3 TYPES OF TUMMY TUCKS

Panniculectomy

This is the simplest “skin-only” tummy tuck or “Panniculectomy”. This is a nice procedure if you have excess skin and/or fat in the lower abdomen region. It also will directly remove lower abdominal stretch marks. The incision for this procedure is of varying length depending on the amount of skin that needs to be removed to produce the result you desire. As with all of Our doctors’s skin closures, he takes great pride in creating the shortest, well-hidden incisions and takes great care in using techniques that will create the smoothest, thinnest incisions.

Recovery – You may experience some swelling and bruising for several days after the procedure. Most clients are able to return to work within 2 weeks but asked to avoid strenuous activity for 3 weeks.

Mini-Tummy Tuck

Next is a mini-tummy tuck. The deciding factor here is the tone of the muscles of your lower abdomen along with the amount of excess fat and/or loose skin or stretch marks. This tends to be a smaller incision below your bikini line. the lower rectus (“6-pack”) muscles are tightened to flatten your lower abdomen and create a more defined waistline.

Recovery – Most patients resume light activity in about 2 days and go back to more strenuous exercise in about a month. Patients usually return to work in 1 to 3 weeks.

Full-Tummy Tuck

Finally is a full abdominoplasty. Here we are looking for loose abdominal muscles along the full length of the abdomen, a droopy bellybutton and significant excess fat and/or skin. This procedure involves tightening the 6-pack muscles above and below your bellybutton, creating a new belly button, and removing excess skin and fat. The abdominoplasty procedure significantly improves waist definition and flattens your abdomen. Each of the above procedures may also utilize liposuction and liposculpting to more fully achieve the look you desire.

Recovery – Recovery time can vary client to client. We generally like to say that your recovery can take anywhere from 4-6 weeks. During the first few days, post-surgery can be the most difficult. Our doctors will help manage your pain with proper pain medication and thorough follow up visits.

In truth, the available procedures function more as a continuum: a blending of the different procedures chose to fit your unique needs.
